A big thank you from LilyMae and Sunni Mae Trust founder

One year ago I set up The Sunni Mae Trust to raise funds for my niece, Lily-Mae Morrison who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Neuroblastoma which effects one in 100,000 children in Ireland. In a year we have raised more than €420,000.

Brain tumour support group

The brain tumour support group in the western region is in existence since November 2006. It supports all those diagnosed with a brain tumour, their families and friends. The group meets once a month on the second Thursday of each month at 7.30pm in the Cancer Care West Centre, Seamus Quirke Road, Galway.

Senator seeks clarity on financial support for sick children’s treatment abroad

Galway West senator Fidelma Healy Eames is to seek a meeting with the Minister for Health in the new year to examine what financial support is available for children with rare life-threatening cancers and other illnesses who may require treatment abroad or could benefit from clinical trials.

The Gibbons family in Shrule would like to thank all of those who came along to the coffee morning last Friday, or to those who donated in order to help raise funds for Gavin O'Hagan, who is currently in San Diego to be assessed for some critically necessary treatment for a brain tumour. The assessment went well and Gavin will be returning to San Diego in two months’ time for further treatment.

Musician’s busk gigs during Volvo raises €6,000 for Lilly Mae fund

Lilly Mae Morrison (4) was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer that affects one in every 100,000 children in Ireland. During the VOlvo Ocean Race finale, Jamie Harrison, a local musician, performed on the streets of Galway to raise funds for the Sunni Mae trust, a charity set up to raise funds for Lilly Mae. After a total of four days busking, Jamie raised €6100 as a result of the generosity of the Galway people.
